INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EDUCATION 2025

Education is a powerful tool for social transformation, as it empowers individuals, enhances life skills, and contributes to the economic development of nations. Despite the global efforts to improve access to quality education, millions of children and young people continue to face barriers such as poverty, conflict, and gender inequality that prevent them from realizing their full potential. The International Day of Education highlights these disparities and calls for collective action to address them.

THE RISING TIDE OF SCHOOL DROPOUTS

In Uganda, recent statistics indicate that the school dropout rate is notably high, particularly among girls. According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) 2021 report, approximately28% of girls in rural areas drop out of school, often due to factors such as poverty, early marriage, and limited access to sanitary facilities. This situation shows the urgent need for targeted interventions to support girls' education in the country.

SUPPORT UGANDAN CHILDREN's EDUCATION THROUGH OUR SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

Access to quality education is a fundamental right for every child, but many children in Ugandaface serious challenges that prevent them from achieving this. According to UNICEF, about 1.4million children in Uganda are out of school, showing the urgent need for support. At Joy forChildren Uganda, we are committed to changing this situation through our Sponsorship Program,which provides vulnerable children with the resources they need to access education and createbetter futures.

World Children’s Day 2024

November 20th marks World Children’s Day, a global moment to reflect on children’s rights, celebrate their potential, and commit to building a better world for the next generation. This year, under the theme “Listen to the Future”, we are reminded of the importance of hearing children’s voices and prioritizing their perspectives as we shape policies and programs that affect their lives. Joy for Children Uganda proudly joins this celebration, amplifying the voices of children across the country and highlighting the critical issues they face, along with the innovative solutions they propose for their futures.

Kampala Slum Women Project

The Kampala Slum Women project is dedicated to addressing the complex needs of women and children living in Kampala’s slums. We aim to create sustainable and transformative change by focusing on key areas that will steadily improve their quality of life.
