Mr. Moses Ntenga is the Founder & Director of Joy for Children, an advocacy and action Center championing the rights of all Children to live peacefully and without exploitation, to benefit from quality free education, to thrive in economic security, and to prosper with access to clean water, good health care and nutrition.
With many years of experience in community building and engagement, focusing on the strength of coalitions to create change thru inclusivity and diversity, Mr Ntenga led the creation and serves as the co-chair of the 50 member Ugandan National Alliance to End Child Marriage, a response to The Elders’ call to end the practice of child marriage in one generation.
POST CSW MEETING
During the post Commission on the Status of Women meeting as a debrief and feedback platform to discuss the outcomes from the 62nd session by different partners, agreed discussions by Joy for Children were around strengthening normative, legal and policy frameworks, implementing economic and social policies for the empowerment of rural women and girls and strengthening the collective voice, leadership and decision making. One of the ways of achieving this is through the use of mainstream media, social media and ICT in empowerment of women and girls.
Journalists want to be taken to the field to interface with the actual problem on ground and talk to the victims to get first hand information instead of inviting them to conferences in hotels. That is when they are able to write powerful stories,

PRESIDENT OF WORLD BANK APPOINTS MR. NTENGA MOSES TO SERVE ON WORLD BANK TASK FORCE ON GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Mr. Moses Ntenga, Executive Director of Joy for Children, an advocacy & action center based in Kampala, Uganda was appointed today by President of the World Bank, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, to serve on the Bank’s newly formed “Task Force on Gender-Based Violence.”
Dr Kim announced: We have zero tolerance for gender-based violence. I have invited the distinguished, well-qualified members of this Task Force to advise me and my management team on specific measures we can take to bolster our work on this issue.
Mr. Moses Ntenga in a statement to the media said:
I am most appreciative of Dr. Jim Yong Kim and The World Bank’s exemplary leadership on an issue which divides us as humans and weakens us as a Global Society. Violence towards women and girls is not only unacceptable, but it diminishes us as humans & precludes the possibility of true advancement of ourselves and our communities.
I will serve to fulfill this Honor with the utmost respect for the great responsibility to add the direct voice of girls & women, of community-based organizations, and of Uganda & Africa to an esteemed group that has passionately committed their lives to change the violence that one half of ourselves inflicts upon the other.
It is in our own best interest, culturally & economically, that both men & women recognize our mutually beneficial commonality, and that men rise to become allies and supporters of women.
It is my greatest Hope that as Individuals we will treat each other as Equals, deserving of Respect and Dignity, and most of all, Peace towards each other it is only then that Humanity will ultimately experience Freedom.
Mr. Ntenga & Joy for Children were a key instrument to bring to the attention of The World Bank issues of exploitation and sexual violence against children that occurred during the Bank’s Uganda Transport Sector project, an action which has resulted in positive advancements including a new focus on children & women in World Bank policies and policy reviews by other international agencies with a lens to gender-based violence.
Mr Ntenga, at 36 the youngest member of the Task Force, will serve alongside prominent individuals who bring a diversity of intellect and longtime experience from the international aide, health, gender, and faith worlds.
Notables include; Kathleen Cravero, Director of the Oak Foundation, Atul Khare, Under-Secretary General for the United Nations Department of Field Support, Aisha Nadar, Head, Infrastructure Procurement and Dispute Resolution Advokatfirman Runeland AB, Fatoumata Ndiaye, Deputy Executive Director, Management, UNICEF, Bernard Ntahoturi, Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Burundi, Anglican Communion,Ewa Werner-Dahlin, Director of Asia, Middle East and Humanitarian Assistance, Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) Geeta Rao Gupta, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF & Kathy Sierra, former VP of Sustainable Development at The World Bank will serve as Co-Chairs .
