Uganda Secondary School Expansion Project (Kikuube Cluster)

Akotha Dorothy is a Ugandan development practitioner with over a decade of progressive experience in humanitarian and development work. She currently serves as a Program Officer under the Uganda Secondary School Expansion Project (USSEP) – Kikuube Cluster at Joy for Children Uganda.

Dorothy’s expertise lies in child protection, safeguarding, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, and community engagement. She is highly skilled in project planning and implementation, capacity building, and community mobilization, with a strong focus on promoting gender equity and protecting vulnerable children and adolescents.

She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Development Studies from Makerere University and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Gender, Women, and Development Studies at Egerton University in Kenya.

Throughout her career, Dorothy has served in various leadership and technical roles, including Program Officer, Child Protection Focal Point, and Gender Focal Point. She is experienced in conducting needs assessments, designing gender-sensitive interventions, coordinating stakeholder engagements, and ensuring compliance with child safeguarding and international protection standards.

Known for her strong interpersonal and analytical skills, cultural sensitivity, and ability to engage effectively with diverse community groups, Dorothy is passionate about advocating for children's rights and advancing gender equality in education and development.
