Project bacground: 

JFCU has been running a community empowerment project targeting the most vulnerable in the slums of Kampala since 2009. The project initially focused on equipping women with skills to generate income and has expanded to include other activities such as weekly women’s meetings; health insurance and sports programmes; child sponsorships; a savings and credit scheme; water, hygiene and sanitation initiatives; prevention of violence against women and children; and children’s participation events like book readings, games, sports, and writing letters to sponsors.

This project is currently being implemented in the slums of Mulago, Makerere Kivulu, Bwaise-Kawempe and Bukoto.
