Advocacy & Action for Children

Volunteer with Us

Joy for Children-Uganda (JFCU) welcomes individuals, families and organizations as volunteers in our programmes. Volunteers can contribute by donating items for children, raising awareness on the needs of children, organizing fundraising events, or simply letting people know about our work.

We recognize the importance of protecting children and, therefore, have a Child Protection Policy by which all volunteers must abide. This policy is designed to reduce the risks of child abuse and exploitation.

JFCU Activities

JFCU advocates for and supports the rights and needs of children who are affected by natural and manmade catastrophes in Uganda. We provide necessary resources and strengthen the capacity of families and communities to care for children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS, malaria and armed conflict, in particular.

We operate in Kampala, Kyenjojo, Bundibugyo and Kabarole districts. We have enjoyed significant growth and success within the last six years with initiatives such as organizing child rights walks in Kampala and Kabarole districts; launching violence against children projects; working to end child marriage; securing child sponsorship; promoting girls’ education; and equipping women with skills for generating income.

We have also acquired spacious new premises for our offices; expanded and established a field office in Fort Portal, Western Uganda; and are planning additional programmes. Our staff has doubled to keep pace with our activities and administrative responsibilities.
